Please note when handling brake fluid.
Brake fluid is poisonous and chemically active. Therefore, it must not be allowed to get on the painted parts.
Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it picks up moisture from the air, so store it in a sealed container.
Used brake fluid must not be reused. Also, when bleeding the brake system, use only fresh brake fluid.
The brake fluid in the system must be changed every year.
Pumping
If it is necessary to bleed the entire system, bleed all wheel cylinders separately. This is the case when air has penetrated into all cylinders. If only one wheel cylinder was changed or repaired, then it is enough to pump only it. Pumping sequence.
- 1) Rear right wheel cylinder
- 2) Rear left wheel cylinder
- 3) Front right brake caliper
- 4) Front left brake caliper
Attention: In vehicles with load-independent brake control (Caravan) before pumping, loosen the spring holder and disconnect it.
Catch the brake control lever all the way forward in the direction of travel. Tie the arm in this position to the rear suspension with wire.
Remove the anther of the bleed valve of the working cylinder, put on a clean hose, lower the other end into a bottle half filled with brake fluid.
Ask an assistant to press the brake pedal ("pump"), until there is pressure in the brake system. This is felt by the increased resistance of the pedal when you press it.
When sufficient pressure is reached, depress the brake pedal fully. Hold the pedal in this position.
Loosen the bleed valve on the slave cylinder about half a turn with a wrench. Collect the escaping liquid in a bottle. Make sure that the end of the hose is always below the liquid level.
Close the valve immediately as soon as the fluid pressure drops.
Repeat the process of pumping the cylinder until there are no air bubbles in the liquid flowing into the bottle.
After pumping, remove the hose from the valve and put on the boot.
Bleed the other cylinders in the same way.
Attention: During pumping, always monitor the level of fluid in the tank. Do not allow a strong drop in level, otherwise air will enter the system through the barrel. Always top up with fresh brake fluid.
On vehicles with independent brake control, untie the wire. Attach the spring to the holder lever.
Slide the holder onto the rear hanger until there is no slack in the spring. but it won't stretch.
Screw holder to suspension housing and tighten to 20 Nm.
After pumping, the compensation tank should be topped up to the mark "max".
