Attention: Models from August 1983 are equipped with an automatic rear brake shoe setting device. Handbrake adjustment is only necessary if the handbrake lever or cable is being replaced.
Raise the handbrake lever by 3 teeth.
Raise the rear of the car with a jack.
Adjust rear brake pads.
Pull the link down in the area of the handbrake equalizer and check the link for ease of movement.
Adjust the handbrake using the nut on the handbrake equalizer.
Tighten the self-locking nut until there is no direct braking effect on the rear wheels.
But both rear wheels must have the same braking effect.
Release the handbrake, the wheels must turn freely, otherwise repeat the adjustment.
