Attention. When adding fluid to the brake expansion tank or clutch fluid reservoir, use only DOT-4+ brake fluid from a clean, sealed container. This polyglycol brake fluid is hygroscopic and absorbs atmospheric moisture. Do not use liquid from open containers as it may contain water. Incorrect or contaminated brake fluid can cause damage to brake system components. Use only recommended DOT-4+ brake fluid.
1. Place a clean rag under the brake master cylinder to prevent leakage of brake fluid.
Note. Clean the outer surface of the reservoir and the area around the cap before removing it.
2. To remove a reservoir cover of the main brake cylinder and if necessary to add a brake liquid.
3. Raise and secure the car.
4. Connect the equipment hose CH-8819096 to the bleed valve on the front left brake mechanism and unscrew the valve.
Note. J64 brakes have two fittings per brake caliper. Both fittings must be opened and drained.
5. Drain about 100 ml of brake fluid using the CH-8819096 bleeder.
Note. In the process of pumping the brake system, it is necessary to constantly monitor the level of brake fluid in the expansion tank, if necessary, adding fluid to the desired level.
6. Tighten the bleeder screw to 10 Nm and install the cap. Move the hose to the right rear brake caliper bleeder and open the bleeder. Drain about 50 ml of brake fluid.
7. Tighten the bleeder screw to 10 Nm and install the cap. Move the hose to the right front brake caliper bleeder and open the bleeder.
Note. J64 brakes have two fittings per brake caliper. Both fittings must be opened and drained.
8. Drain about 100 ml of brake fluid.
9. Tighten the bleeder screw to 10 Nm and install the cap. Move the hose to the left rear brake caliper bleeder and open the bleeder. Drain about 50 ml of brake fluid.
10. Tighten the bleeder screw to 10 Nm, install the cap and lower the vehicle.
11. Fill the expansion tank of the main brake cylinder with fresh brake fluid from a clean, airtight container up to the upper mark.
12. Slowly depress and release the brake pedal. Check the elasticity of the brake pedal.
13. If the brake pedal is too soft, check the brake system for external leaks.
14. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine. Check if the brake system malfunction indicator light is on.
Attention. If the warning lamp of the brake system is on, the operation of the vehicle until the cause of the malfunction is clarified is prohibited.
15. If the brake warning light is on, troubleshoot.
