Checking the color and odor of the automatic transmission oil provides a first indication of the condition of the mechanical components of the automatic transmission.
Note. The vehicle must be level.
Note. Apply the parking brake.
Note. The brake pedal must be depressed
Note. The engine must be running at idle.
The gear lever is once translated in all positions from P to 1 and back to P
Stop the engine.
Drain a small amount of gear oil and pour it into a glass.
Check the color and smell of the drained gear oil.
If it is red, with no discoloration and no admixture of particles, then you need to determine the cause of the malfunction using the test guide for Corsa-C «Automatic 4-speed transmission AF13-II».
If the transmission oil is brownish black and smells burnt, it is recommended to dismantle the gearbox to check the lining plates of the respective clutches C or brake B and, if necessary, replace them.
With an increased content of metal particles in the gear oil, it is recommended to replace the gearbox with a regenerated one.
Install the oil drain screw plug with a new sealing ring on the gearbox, tightening torque - 40 Nm.
Check transmission oil level, correct if necessary.
