Checking the condition of the transmission oil (AF13-II) (Opel Corsa C)

            0

Checking the color and smell of automatic transmission oil gives the first indication of the condition of the mechanical components of the automatic transmission.

Note: The vehicle must be positioned horizontally.

Note: Apply the parking brake.

Note: The brake pedal must be depressed

Note: The engine must be idling.

The gear shift lever is moved once through all positions from P to 1 and back to P

Turn off the engine.

Drain a small amount of transmission oil and pour it into a glass.

Check the color and smell of the drained transmission oil.

If it is red, without any colour change and without any particles, then the cause of the fault should be identified using the Corsa-C "AF13-II Automatic 4-Speed Transmission" test guide.

If the colour is brown-black and there is a burnt smell of transmission oil, it is recommended to disassemble the gearbox to check the lining plates of the corresponding clutches C or brake B and, if necessary, replace them.

If the transmission oil contains an increased amount of metal particles, it is recommended to replace the gearbox with a regenerated one.

Install the oil drain plug with a new sealing ring on the gearbox, tightening torque 40 Nm.

Check the transmission oil level and adjust if necessary.
