Note: If the vehicle is parked for a longer period of time, (eg during the night) the gearshift lever is not in the "P" position, the battery may be discharged. To prevent the battery from being discharged, if the car is going to be idle for a longer period of time, including overnight, the ignition key should always be removed from the ignition switch.
Release the gear shift lever trim (arrows) and pull it upward.
Remove the gear shift lever.
With a round-tip screwdriver (you can use a ballpoint pen) press forward (arrow) and hold in this position the release lever on the magnetic switch of the gear shift lever locking device.
Press the locking head and move the gear shift lever out of the "P" position.
