2. The general principle of adjustment is to set the gear lever in the passenger compartment and the shift mechanism on the gearbox to a certain fixed position with the drive removed / disconnected, after which the drive is installed - while the positions of the lever and mechanism are synchronized.
3. The need for adjustment of the shift drive arises, as a rule, only after dismantling / replacing the gearbox or components of the shift drive itself. If the gear shifting is not clear, the correct functioning of the drive can be checked, if necessary, appropriate adjustments are made.
Manual transmission F13, F17 and F17 +
4. On these models, adjustment is carried out by means of a clamp bolt securing the gear selection rod to the shift rod (see resist. illustration). The bolt is located under the power unit, directly in front of the rear bulkhead of the engine compartment.
9.4. Bolt (1) fastening of a collar of a rod of a choice of transfers to draft of switching
5. Relax (but don't give it all away) bolt of a collar of fastening of a rod of a choice of transfers.
6. In the car, release from the latches and wrap up the boot of the gear lever. Press the lever to the left until the holes on the base of the lever and the support bracket are aligned, fix the lever using the special tool KM-527-A or another suitable tool with a diameter of 5 mm (see resist. illustration).
9.6. Fixing the shift lever with the KM-527-A tool (2) (Manual transmission F13/F17) - arrows indicate holes
7. Turn the selector shaft of the gear shift mechanism on the gearbox housing to the left (into third gear) and lock the mechanism in this position by sinking the spring-loaded locking pin into the cover located on top of the transmission case (see resist. illustration).
9.7. Stopper (1) gear change mechanism (Manual transmission F13/F17)
8. Make sure that the lever and shift mechanism are securely locked, tighten the gear selector rod clamp bolt (see illustration 9.4) with a force of 12 Nm, and then tighten it to an angle of 180-225°.
9. Remove the locking device from the shift lever and check the operation of the shift mechanism - the spring-loaded locking pin will automatically release when the lever is moved to the reverse gear position. Make sure the locking pin pops out of the cover.
Manual transmission F23
10. Remove the center console cover and shift lever boot (see chapter 11).
11. Gently prying with a small screwdriver, release both latches of the drive cables (see resist. illustration).
9.11. Releasing the gearshift cable retainers (on the example of F23)
Attention: Be careful when pressing the latches, excessive force can lead to breakage!
12. In the engine compartment Install the gearshift mechanism on the manual transmission in «neutral» position, make sure that no gear is engaged by shaking the gear lever (see resist. illustration). Then move the gearshift lever inside the car to the neutral position and lock it with the lock.
9.12. Setting in the neutral position of the mechanism (A) and lever (IN) gear shift (Manual transmission F23): 1. Lever lock
13. Connect the drive cables, remove the retainer and reinstall all removed components, then check the operation of the shift mechanism.
