Camshaft gears
1. Remove the timing belt (see Removing and installing timing belt), then, to prevent the risk of component damage from piston-to-valve contact, move the engine off TDC by turning the crankshaft 60°counterclockwise.
2. Acting as described (see Removal and installation of the timing belt tensioner and timing gears), remove the gear from the camshaft that needs service. If necessary, repeat the procedure and remove the second shaft gear.
On engines 1.4. The 1.6L and 1.8L exhaust shaft sprocket can be identified by the lugs to fit the CMP sensor. On 2.0 liter engines, in the exhaust wheel, unlike the intake wheel, there are not seven, but only four spokes, plus, the marking is applied «EXHAUST».
3. Before reinstalling the timing belt, do not forget to return the engine to the TDC position.

Removing
1. Remove the timing belt (see Removing and installing timing belt).
2. On models with manual transmission, ask an assistant to block the crankshaft from turning, turn on the highest gear and depress the foot brake pedal all the way. On models with AT, unscrew one of the torque converter mounting bolts and tighten the latter to the transmission case using a steel bar and suitable bolts with washers (see chapter automatic transmission). If the engine is removed from the vehicle, the flywheel/drive plate must be blocked (see Removal, condition check and installation of a flywheel / drive disk).
3. Turn out a fixing bolt (don't forget the puck) and remove the gear wheel from the shaft journal.
Installation
The crankshaft gear wheel bolt must be replaced without fail.
1. Place the gear wheel on the shaft journal (flange out), - make sure that the key fits into the keyway. Screw in a new mounting bolt with a washer.
2. Block the crankshaft from turning (see above Withdrawal) and tighten the gear bolt to the first stage (see Specifications). Next, use the goniometer to the wrench and tighten the bolt to the corner of the second stage (if it is not possible to use a goniometer nozzle, apply reference marks with paint or a marker).
3. Install the timing belt (see Removing and installing timing belt).
Tensioner
See Removal and installation of the timing belt tensioner and timing gears.
Intermediate rollers
Removing
1. Remove the timing belt (see Removing and installing timing belt).
2. Turn out fixing bolts and remove rollers from the engine.
Installation
1. Install the rollers, screw in and tighten the bolts of their fastening with the required force.
2. Install the timing belt (see Removing and installing timing belt).
