Main stabilizer bar
On all models equipped with a rear anti-roll bar, it is located inside the rear suspension torsion beam. Dual cam engines have an additional stabilizer bar that bolts to the outside of the torsion beam (removal and installation are described below).
Place chocks under the front wheels of the vehicle, then raise the rear of the vehicle and secure it to stands under the bridge.
While working on the stabilizer bar, tighten the fixing bolt while loosening the nut.
Repeat this operation with the other nut on the other end of the stabilizer bar.
Remove the stabilizer bar rubber insulator from the center of the torsion beam.
From the side of the vehicle where the wheel was removed, remove the stabilizer bar through the end of the torsion beam.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
Apply a thin coat of lubricant to the stabilizer bar, such as light oil.
Make sure the insulating rubber pad is properly seated in the center of the torsion beam.
Install new bolts and nuts to secure the stabilizer bar. Tighten the bolts in three stages as specified in the specification.
Additional stabilizer bar
(models equipped with engines with two camshafts)
For better access to parts, place wedges under the front wheels, then jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it on stands under the axle.
Remove the four bolts - two on each side of the stabilizer bar - while holding the nuts, and move the stabilizer bar away from the torsion beam.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, however, install new nuts and bolts. Hold the nuts while tightening the bolts in three steps as specified in the specification.
