Attention: Depressurization of the fuel system must be carried out before servicing any of its components in order to minimize the risk of fuel ignition and personal injury!
2. Remove the engine top cover.
3. Remove the protective cap (see resist. illustration) service connector (for checking the operating pressure in the fuel supply system).
2.3 Cap (2) fuel distribution line service connector (1)
4. Install a pressure tester for the fuel system (KM-J-34730-91) (see resist. illustration) and lower the drain hose into a suitable container prepared in advance. Open the drain cock and release the fuel pressure, some fuel will drain into the container.
2.4 Installing the device Opel-KM-J-34730-91 (4) for pressure control: 3. Connecting fitting; 5. Drain hose; 6. Drain tap; 4. Service fitting
Attention: For Z22YH engine (with direct injection) in this way only the low-pressure circuit can be depressurized (up to 4.2 bar).
In the high pressure fuel circuit (from injection pump to injectors) 110 bar pressure maintained! To drop it, special devices are required - it is recommended to entrust these works to service station specialists.
5. At the end of the operation, disconnect the device and screw on the protective cap.
6. If there is no special tool available, you can proceed as follows: Make sure that the ignition is turned off, remove the cover of the luggage compartment mounting block and remove the fuel pump relay from the seat.
7. Start the engine, wait for it to stop spontaneously, then crank the starter for another 5 seconds to be sure that the pressure in the fuel lines is relieved. Switch off the ignition and reinsert the fuel pump relay.
