Caution: The fuel system must be depressurized before servicing any of its components to minimize the risk of fuel ignition and personal injury!
2. Remove the top engine cover.
3. Remove the protective cap (see accompanying illustration) service nipple (to check the operating pressure in the fuel supply system).

4. Install a fuel system pressure tester/relief device (KM-J-34730-91) (see accompanying illustration) and lower the drain hose into a suitable container prepared in advance. Open the drain cock and release the fuel pressure, some fuel will drain into the container.

Note: For engine Z22YH (with direct injection) in this way, only the pressure in the low-pressure circuit can be released (up to 4.2 bar).

In the high-pressure fuel circuit (from fuel injection pump to injectors) the pressure is maintained at 110 bar! Special devices are required to release it - it is recommended to entrust this work to service station specialists.
5. Once the operation is complete, disconnect the device and screw on the protective cap.
6. If you do not have a special device, you can do the following: Make sure that the ignition is off, remove the cover of the luggage compartment mounting block and remove the fuel pump relay from the socket.
7. Start the engine, wait until it stops spontaneously, then crank the starter for another 5 seconds to be absolutely sure that the pressure in the fuel lines has been released. Turn off the ignition and insert the fuel pump relay back into place.
