Removal
1. Remove the timing belt.
2. Remove the oil pump and crankshaft pulleys.
3. Remove the main oil pan assembly.
4. Remove the bolts and remove the oil pump cover from the end of the crankshaft.
5. Using a marker, mark the relative positions of the inner and outer rotors of the oil pump.

6. Remove the oil pump inner rotor.

7. Remove the oil pump outer rotor.

8. If necessary, unscrew the pressure relief valve bolt and remove the sealing ring.
Examination
1. Clean the oil pump parts and check them for wear.

2. Using a feeler gauge, check the clearance between the pump rotor teeth.

3. Using a feeler gauge blade, check the clearance between the outer rotor and the oil pump housing.

4. Check that the safety valve piston moves easily and freely under the action of the spring.
Installation
1. Install a new sealing ring onto the pressure relief valve and screw the valve into the cylinder block, tightening it to the specified torque.
2. Lubricate the pump rotor with clean engine oil and install it into the pump body in accordance with the previously made mark.
3. Replace the oil pump and crankshaft seals.
4. Check that the mating surfaces of the oil pump housing and pump cover are clean and dry.

5. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the mating surface of the oil pump cover and carefully install the oil pump cover (A and B are the sealant application areas).
6. Apply sealant to the threads of the pump cover mounting bolts and tighten the screws to the required torque.
7. Install the oil pump and crankshaft pulleys. Install the oil pan.
8. Fill the engine with clean motor oil.
Replacing the oil pump sealing ring
1. Remove the oil pump pulley.
2. Drill two small holes in the sealing ring, located at diametrically opposite ends of the sealing ring. Screw two self-tapping screws into the drilled holes of the sealing ring and, using pliers, pull the sealing ring out by the screw heads.
3. Clean the sealing ring seat.
4. Lubricate the lips of the new seal ring with clean engine oil and, using a tubular drift, install the seal ring into place.
5. Install the oil pump pulley.
