Removal
1. Press the brake pedal several times to fill the brake booster with air or relieve pressure in the servomotor hydraulic unit.
2. Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap and use a syringe to pump out the brake fluid.
3. Remove the relay box from the hydraulic regulator on the left front side of the engine compartment.
4. On manual transmission models, loosen the clamp and remove the clutch feed pipe (arrow) from the reservoir.
5. Pull up to remove the reservoir from the master cylinder.
6. Label the brake pipes that go to the master cylinder.
7. Place a clean rag under the master cylinder. Unscrew the brake pipe mounting nuts and move the brake pipes away from the master cylinder. Close the ends of the pipes with the appropriate plugs.
8. Unscrew the mounting nuts and remove the master brake cylinder from the brake booster together with the gasket.
Installation
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. In this case, install a new gasket. Remove air from the hydraulic system. The nuts securing the brake pipes must be tightened to the required torque. If overtightened, the flange at the end of the pipe can be damaged.
