Engine oil change
Engine oil must be changed every 15,000 km, but at least once a year. At the same time, the oil filter is also replaced. Under severe vehicle operating conditions (frequent short trips, frequent cold starts, driving on heavily polluted roads) change the oil and filter more frequently.
Attention! Waste oil and filters must be taken to special collection points. In no case do not drain the oil into the ground, as this is harmful to the environment.
Oil drain
Start the engine and warm up to operating temperature (oil temperature 80°C).
Instruction. The oil can be pumped out through the dipstick hole.
Raise the vehicle and place it on stands.
Install a container to collect used oil.
Unscrew the drain plug from the oil sump and completely drain the oil.
Attention! If the oil contains a large amount of metal filings or other wear products, this indicates the presence of scoring, for example, in crankshaft bearings or connecting rods. To avoid further damage, the oil passages and lines must be thoroughly cleaned. It is also advisable to replace the oil cooler, if any.
Tighten the oil drain plug (installing a new gasket):
- for gasoline and diesel atmospheric engines - a torque of 45 Nm,
- for a diesel engine with a volume of 1.7 liters with a turbocharger - 80 Nm.
Lower the car.
Unscrew the oil filter. In workshops, a special tool is used for this purpose. If you don't have one, you can use a regular leather belt. To facilitate removal, you can use a sharp screwdriver, piercing the filter with it and using it as a lever. When removing the filter, oil flows out, so it is necessary to substitute an appropriate container.
Oil filling
When installing the filter, follow the instructions given on its body.
Flush the filter flange with fuel.
Lightly coat the filter rubber seal with oil.
Tighten the filter by hand.
Pour clean oil into the oil filler hole.
Attention! Do not use CD-type engine oils intended for diesel engines for petrol engines!
Filled oil volume
Oil volume between marks "max" And "min" on the dipstick for all engines is approximately 1 liter.
Attention! For engines with a catalyst, never allow the oil level to exceed the mark "max". Excess oil can get into the catalytic converter and damage it!
After a test drive, check the tightness of the oil drain plug and the oil filter. Tighten plug and filter if necessary.
For better engine control, replace used oil with the same type and, if possible, the same brand. It is recommended to stick a sheet of thick paper in the engine compartment indicating the brand and viscosity of the oil used.
It is not recommended to change the type of oil used during the operation of the vehicle. In addition, engine oils of the same type, but different brands, should not be mixed. Oils of the same type and brand, but of different viscosities, can be mixed.
