The relief valve maintains the oil pressure at a certain level. It is located behind the crankshaft pulley on the oil pump. If the oil pressure warning light comes on or flashes even though the oil level is normal, this indicates low oil pressure. In this case, you need to remove the relief valve, disassemble it and check it.
Removal
Unscrew the plug and remove the spring and plunger.

Check the plunger for ease of movement. Clean or replace if necessary.
Installation
Insert the plunger and spring washed in kerosene. Install a new copper gasket under the plug and tighten it.
