Removal and installation the steering wheel (Opel Vectra A)

Removal

Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

Carefully remove the steering wheel hub cover with a screwdriver.



Carefully remove the steering wheel hub with a screwdriver.

Set the wheels straight.

Bend the lock washer off the fastening nut and unscrew the nut.

Mark the position of the steering wheel relative to the steering shaft.

Remove the steering wheel from the steering shaft using a puller (opel KM-210-A device). The puller jaws must be facing outward.

Caution! Never hit the steering shaft. Do not remove or install the steering wheel by impact.

If necessary, remove the contact ring and replace it with a new one, after lubricating it.

Installation

Place the steering wheel so that its left and right spokes are level with the floor.

Screw on the nut, tighten it to a torque of 25 Nm and lock it.

Take a short test drive. The left and right spokes of the steering wheel should be level with the floor when driving straight, otherwise remove and reposition the wheel to the appropriate number of splines.

Install the steering wheel hub cover and snap it onto the steering wheel.

Connect the ground wire to the battery.

Check the operation of the sound signal.

Check the operation of the automatic return mechanism of the turn signal switch.

Note: A dirty steering wheel can be washed with a warm water solution of neutral detergent. Do not use aggressive substances!
