Removal



The following instructions apply only to steering wheels without airbags. For safety reasons, the airbag should be removed by a service station.


1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2. Set the front wheels to the straight-ahead position.

3. Carefully remove the horn button cover using a screwdriver.

4. Bend back the steering wheel mounting nut retaining plate and remove the nut.

5. Mark the position of the steering wheel relative to the steering shaft.

6. Remove the steering wheel using a puller, for example, OPEL-KM-210-A.

To facilitate removal, do not knock on the steering shaft or jerk the steering wheel in different directions.




7. If necessary, replace the cable drum in the steering wheel hub.

The outdoor lighting segment on the cable drum must face left when installed.

8. Lubricate the contact surface of the cable drum with grease "Kontaktfix" or Vaseline oil.

Installation



1. Install the steering wheel so that the previously applied marks match.

2. Install the new lock plate and tighten the steering wheel mounting nut to 25 Nm.

3. Drive the car, checking that the steering wheel is installed correctly.

4. Secure the steering wheel mounting nut with the lock plate.

5. Move the electrical wiring to the steering wheel cover and install the cover.

6. Connect the negative cable to the battery and check the operation of the horn.

7. Check the automatic return of the exterior lighting switch to its original position.

A dirty steering wheel can be washed with a neutral household solution and warm water.
