If a fault in the engine management system is suspected (fuel injection/ignition), first, make sure that the air filter element is clean, the spark plugs are in good condition with the correct gaps, and the engine ventilation hoses are not damaged or clogged. Also make sure the accelerator pedal cable is adjusted correctly.
If the engine runs rough, check the compression (see the relevant chapter).
While checking the spark plugs, also check the high tension wires as follows.
Check the condition of the high tension wire tip: it simply fits onto the spark plug, so make sure it fits tightly. If the tip is loose, remove the wire and use pliers to gently bend the metal connector of the inner tip.
Wipe the wires along their entire length with a clean cloth, then carefully inspect them for burns, cracks, and other damage. Do not bend the wires excessively, otherwise the inner conductor may break.
Disconnect the other end of the wire from the ignition coil assembly and test this tip as described above. Before removing the wires, number the wires. The wires are disconnected from the spark plugs by the tip, otherwise the connections may break. Finally, install the drive back into place.
Check the remaining wires one by one. If new wires are required, you will need to purchase a kit that is appropriate for your vehicle and engine.
If the cause of the problem cannot be found as a result of the checks, contact a specialized workshop. The ignition module wiring connector is included in the engine control system circuit, which has a diagnostic connector to which a special tester can be connected, allowing you to quickly and easily determine the malfunction.
