The engine has the following main features:
Rotating mass compensation system (balancing shaft block) results in a reduction of secondary forces, resulting in reduced noise and smooth engine operation.
The valves are driven through hydraulic clearance compensators.
No timing chain maintenance required.
The air swirl control valve ensures the creation of a homogeneous fuel mixture.
The high pressure fuel pump (VP44) is controlled by electronic units.
Fuel injectors are installed in the cylinder head in the center of the combustion chamber.
The catalytic converter ensures low levels of harmful emissions with exhaust gases.
The water pump and other accessories are driven by a maintenance-free V-belt.
Top dead center (TDC) is easily determined and fixed with pins.
The engine number is stamped on the cylinder block boss under the oil filter housing.

When installing a repair cylinder block, the engine number must be stamped before engine assembly.
