Removal
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
Disconnect the connector from the air flow meter.
Remove the air duct connecting the air intake to the air filter, the turbocharger intake duct and the engine cover.
Loosen and remove the accessory drive belt (see the relevant chapter).
Remove the lower engine compartment protection.
Unscrew the nut from the lower generator mounting bolt (2), but do not remove the bolt yet.
Loosen the nut and remove the upper generator mounting bolt (1), tilt the generator down, disconnect the wires, remove the lower generator mounting bolt and remove the generator from the top of the engine compartment.
Installation
From the top of the engine compartment, install the alternator, insert the lower alternator mounting bolt, connect the wires, then insert the upper alternator mounting bolt, screw the nuts onto the bolts and tighten them to 35 N·m.
Install the lower engine compartment protection.
Install the accessory drive belt (see the relevant chapter).
Install the air duct connecting the air intake to the air filter, the turbocharger intake duct and the engine cover.
Connect the connector to the air flow meter.
Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
