The immobilizer is used to prevent an unauthorized person from starting the engine. On diesel models this is achieved by blocking the fuel supply, on petrol models - by disabling the ignition system.

The immobilizer does not block the doors - do not forget to lock the doors and turn on the anti-theft alarm.

Each vehicle equipped with an engine immobilizer is supplied with a magnetic card, which contains full information about the technical parameters of the model and therefore should not be stored in the vehicle interior. However, please make sure to always keep the card at hand when you go to your Opel dealer or service centre for advice.

Immobilizer activation

1. Turn off the ignition, then turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" position and remove it from the lock.

Deactivating the immobilizer

1. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position - now the engine can be started.

Procedure in case of immobilizer failure

If the electronic engine management system indicator lamp lights continuously when the ignition is turned on and the engine cannot be started, the immobilization system has failed.

1. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.

2. Wait about three seconds and try starting the engine again.

3. If the indicator lamp remains on, contact your Opel dealer or service centre for advice.
