Lights up when the ignition is on and during engine start-up. Goes out shortly after engine start-up.
Injection duration, ignition, idle mode and activation of forced idle mode are controlled electronically.
Illumination while driving indicates a malfunction. The electronic system switches to emergency mode to ensure continued driving. To eliminate the cause, contact an authorized Opel workshop.
Long-term operation with the indicator on may damage the catalytic converter, increase fuel consumption and adversely affect the vehicle's performance.
A single short-term fire does not pose a danger.
Checking the electronic immobilizer
(Material copied from this resource: www.OPELBOOK.ru)
If the electronic engine system indicator flashes when the ignition is on, the immobilizer is faulty and it is not possible to start the engine:
- turn the key in the ignition switch to its original position;
- wait about 2 seconds;
- try starting the engine again.
If the indicator continues to flash, you should contact an authorized Opel workshop to fix the problem.
