Lights up when the ignition is on and when the engine is started. Turns off shortly after starting the engine.
Injection duration, ignition, idling and forced idling are electronically controlled.
Lighting up while driving indicates a malfunction. The electronic system switches to emergency mode to allow further movement. To eliminate the cause, contact an authorized Opel workshop.
Prolonged use with the warning light on can damage the catalytic converter, increase fuel consumption and adversely affect vehicle performance.
A single short-term fire is not dangerous.
Checking the electronic immobilizer
If the engine electronic system indicator flashes when the ignition is on, then the immobilizer is faulty and it is not possible to start the engine:
- turn the key in the ignition switch to its original position;
- wait for about 2 seconds;
- restart the engine.
If the warning light continues to flash, contact an authorized Opel workshop to correct the problem.
