Traction control system (Opel Vectra B)

TS system (Traction Control System), a system of automatic control and warning of skidding and slippage, prevents, regardless of the condition of the road surface and the adhesion of the tires to the road, slippage of the drive wheels.

This system monitors the rotation speed of all wheels and reduces engine power as soon as one of the drive wheels starts to slip. If necessary, the slipping drive wheel is braked. Thanks to this, especially in the presence of snow and ice, as well as on wet or slippery road surfaces, the vehicle's driving stability and the efficiency of the transmission of the driving force to the road surface are increased.

The regulation process via the TC system is indicated by the blinking of the indicator. During the regulation process, the engine power is reduced (the sound of the engine changes).

The TC system is activated as soon as the ignition is turned on.

• when the ignition is on, the indicator lights up;
• it will go out after a few seconds after the system has performed a self-check;
• the TC system is now activated and can perform its task at any speed in combination with the anti-lock braking system ABS.

The system is not operational if:

• after turning on the ignition the indicator does not light up;
• after turning on the ignition the indicator will not go out;
• the indicator light is constantly on while driving;
• there is a malfunction in the anti-lock braking system ABS.

In case of malfunction, it is possible to continue driving. The stability of the vehicle during movement may, depending on acceleration and the condition of the road surface, decrease due to slippage of the drive wheels.

Disabling the TS system

In special situations where slippage of the drive wheels is required, for example:

• driving with snow chains;
• moving through deep snow;
• "rocking" in deep snow, it may be advisable to disable the vehicle system using the VEHICLE key.

Disconnection is indicated by the TC indicator lighting up.

By pressing the TC button again or each time the ignition is turned on, the system is turned on again.
