Removing
1. To remove the flywheel / drive dick, you must first remove the transmission (see chapter 6 or 7) and grip (see chapter 6).
2. Using a suitable tool, block the flywheel/drive plate from turning (see resist. illustration). Use paint or marker to mark the position of the flywheel relative to the crankshaft.
3. Remove the fixing bolts and remove the flywheel/drive plate - if necessary, use the help of an assistant, as the flywheel is quite heavy.
Examination
4. Inspect the flywheel/drive plate for signs of wear or chipping of the crown teeth, examine the condition of the working surface in contact with the clutch disc.
5. In some cases, if damage to the teeth or deep grooves and scuffs are detected on the mating surfaces of the flywheel / drive disk, its crown can be replaced, and the flywheel / drive disk itself can be given to the groove. However, out-of-factory repairs are highly discouraged - it would be wiser to replace the flywheel / drive disc.
6. If you are not sure about the condition of the flywheel / drive plate, seek advice from a car service specialist.
Installation
Note: New flywheel/drive plate mounting bolts will be required.
7. Clean the mating surfaces of the flywheel/drive plate and crankshaft - make sure that the threaded holes in the shaft flange are completely free of traces of old sealant.
8. Lubricate the threaded portion of the mounting bolts with locking compound, install the flywheel/drive plate and secure it with bolts. When installing a used flywheel / drive plate, make sure that the landing marks applied during the dismantling process are aligned correctly.
9. Block the flywheel using the method used for removal. Tighten all bolts evenly in diagonal order in several steps to the first stage torque.
10. Tighten the fasteners to the corners of the 2nd, then, where required, the 3rd stage of tightening (see specs) - use a goniometer nozzle, or pre-apply paint reference marks.
11. Install the clutch (see chapter 6). Remove the flywheel blocking tool and install the transmission (see chapter 6 or 7).
