Tire tread pattern
Front tires worn out on the outside are not uncommon on a front-wheel drive Vectra. The reason is the increased load on this section of the tread during a turn.
A profile worn off on one side may indicate incorrect wheel alignment; especially when one tire is obliquely worn.
Strong wear in the middle of the profile indicates that the car often drives at high speed, while the tread protrudes due to centrifugal force. This effect is especially pronounced on the rear wheels. It may also indicate air pressure that is significantly higher than normal.
If both outer shoulders of one tire are worn more than the middle of the profile, then this means that the car has been moving for a long time with too low tire pressure.
Uniform washouts in the profile indicate a defective shock absorber.
If uneven wear appears in certain places, then this means that the wheel is not balanced or the tire carcass is damaged.
Individual profile areas with heavy wear are the result of braking with a locked wheel - the so-called braking plate (in a car without ABS).
Wheel swap
Tires on the front and rear axles wear out at different rates. In order to be able to buy four tires of the same brand when replacing worn tires, you need to monitor the uniform wear of the profile. Therefore, timely rearrange the front wheels in place of the rear. But do not change the wheels diagonally, but only from front to back.
