Removal the crankshaft (Opel Vectra B)

Warning: When installing the crankshaft bearing caps, new bolts must be used.


1.6L petrol engine



1. Remove the oil pump and flywheel.

2. Remove the pistons and connecting rods.

3. Check the crankshaft axial clearance.

4. Mark the main bearing caps 1 through 5.

5. Gradually and consistently unscrew the main bearing cap bolts.

6. Remove the main bearing caps together with the liners.

7. Remove the crankshaft and remove the crankshaft rear oil seal ring.

8. Remove the upper main bearing shells.

Petrol engines 1.8 and 2.0 l



9. Remove the flywheel and oil pump.

10. Remove the screws and remove the bulkhead from the base of the cylinder block.



11. Evenly and gradually unscrew the main bearing block mounting bolts from the cylinder block.

12. Remove the pistons and connecting rods.

13. Check the crankshaft axial clearance.

14. Mark the main bearing caps 1 through 5.

15. Gradually and consistently unscrew the main bearing cap bolts.

16. Remove the main bearing caps together with the liners.

17. Remove the crankshaft and remove the crankshaft rear oil seal ring.

18. Remove the upper main bearing shells.

Diesel engines 1.7 l



19. Remove the flywheel and unscrew the oil pump cover mounting bolt on the right side of the engine cylinder block.

20. Unscrew the bolts and remove the rear crankshaft cover.

21. Remove the pistons and connecting rods.

22. Check the crankshaft axial clearance.

23. Mark the main bearing caps 1 through 5.

24. Gradually and consistently unscrew the main bearing cap bolts.

25. Remove the main bearing caps together with the liners.

26. Remove the crankshaft and remove the crankshaft rear oil seal ring.

27. Remove the upper main bearing shells.

28. Remove the thrust half rings located on both sides of the main bearing cap N₂.

Diesel engine 2.0 l



29. Remove the crankshaft sprocket, chains and flywheel.



30. Unscrew the bolts gradually and evenly and remove the main bearing block from the base of the main bearing caps.

31. Remove the pistons and connecting rods.

32. Check the crankshaft axial clearance.

33. Mark the main bearing caps 1 through 5 (on 2.0 l diesel engines only bearing caps N1 and 2 have factory markings).

34. Gradually and consistently unscrew the main bearing cap bolts.

35. Remove the main bearing caps together with the liners.

36. Remove the crankshaft and remove the rear crankshaft oil seal. Remove the upper main bearing shells.
