2. On all DOCH gasoline engines, remove the camshafts and levers.
3. On a 1.7L diesel engine, remove the camshaft, levers and shims. Unscrew the glow plugs and fuel injectors from the cylinder head. Then remove the cylinder head from the engine.
4. On 2.0L diesel engines, remove the camshaft, levers and hydraulic lifters of the cylinder head. Remove the glow plugs and remove the cylinder head from the engine.
5. On all models, using a valve spring compressor, compress each spring and remove cotters from the valve face.
6. Remove the spring compressor and remove the spring cup and spring.
7. Using pliers, being careful, remove the flinger ring from the valve stem.
8. Remove the spring seat.
9. When the valve spring is compressed and the spring cup is not removed from the cotters, it is necessary to hit the spring cup with a hammer through a block of wood, which will release the cotters.
10. Remove the valve through the combustion chamber. Store each valve in a separate plastic bag along with the spring plate, spring, spring seat and crackers for further installation in their places.
