A new or remanufactured head can be ordered from an Opel workshop or from the manufacturer's warehouse. Due to the fact that some complex and expensive tools are required to disassemble and check the condition of the head, it may be cheaper to purchase a new or remanufactured head.
With the appropriate configuration, immediately after removing the head, remove the jet from the engine block (s) oil spray, clean it (their) and place in a separate plastic bag.
Disassembly of the cylinder head requires preliminary dismantling of the valve train (intake and exhaust valves with related components). It is understood that the valve levers and camshaft (s) already removed from the head.
1. Remove the cylinder head from the engine block (see Procedures for repairing SOHC gasoline engines without removing them from the vehicle, In-Vehicle DOHC Gasoline Engine Repair Procedures or Repair procedures for diesel engines 1.7 l and 2.0 l without removing them from the car).
2. Using a special tool, compress the spring (s) of the first valve and remove from the groove on the rod the crackers of the split lock of the plate (use a magnetized rod, forceps, or needle nose pliers).
3. Carefully release the tool and remove the spring plate, spring (s), oil seal and spring seat (depending on configuration).
A - Removing the spring plate (crackers removed, clamping device removed)
B - Valve spring removal
C - Removing the oil seal

C.
If crackers «stuck» and cannot be removed, lightly tap the spring compression tool on the side of the retainer with a hammer.
4. Place the removed valve assembly components in a separate, clearly numbered plastic bag/plastic cup.
5. Next, remove the valve by pushing it into the combustion chamber. If the valve is jammed in the guide sleeve, push it back into the head and with a whetstone or a fine-toothed file, carefully clean the edges of the groove for installing crackers.
6. In the same manner, remove the remaining valve assemblies. Place the removed components of each of the valves in a separate, appropriately labeled bag / cup - during assembly, each part must be installed strictly in its original place.
Once all valvetrain components have been removed and stowed away in an organized manner, the cleaning and head check procedures can begin (in case of a full-scale reconditioning of the engine, before completing its disassembly).
