All models have a 5-speed gearbox. Uses five transmission types, depending on engine power output and model year. See Specifications.
2. To determine the gear ratio of the final drive, see the number of the transmission indicated on its end cover. The number also indicates which gears the installed gearbox has (short or long). The manufacturer's codes stamped on the upper cross member of the radiator frame also contain this information (contact your Opel dealer for decryption).
3. The drive through the clutch is transmitted to the input shaft, located in parallel with the output shaft. The gears of the input and output shafts are in constant engagement, and gear selection is carried out by shifting the synchronizer hub to the desired gear of the output shaft. The hub engages with the gear and connects it to the output shaft.
4. The 5th gear components are located under the gearbox rear cover at the end of the transmission.
5. Reverse gear is engaged by shifting the intermediate gear into engagement with two spur gears mounted on the input and output shafts.
6. All forward gears are helical, which reduces noise and improves wear resistance.
7. The F18 transmission is equipped with a special mechanism that allows you to engage the reverse gear silently.
8. The differential is installed in the main transmission case. The drive to the differential is transmitted by a satellite at the end of the output shaft. The inner ends of the drive shafts are inserted directly into the differential.
9. Gear selection is carried out by means of a gear lever through a special rod.
