This Part of Section 2 describes the procedures that are performed on a dual overhead cam engine. Part B must be read along with Part A.
The underside of the engine is basically the same as the SOHC 2.0 liter engine. But the pistons are attached to the connecting rods by floating piston pins secured by circlips.
Both camshafts on these engines are driven from the crankshaft by a single toothed belt. Each cylinder has four valves (two intake and two exhaust), driven directly from the camshafts by hydraulic self-adjusting tappets. One camshaft controls the intake valves and the other controls the exhaust.
Models with double overhead camshafts (DOHC) equipped with a separate oil cooler.
The distributor is driven directly from the exhaust camshaft.
