Steering damper — removal and installation (Opel Vectra A)

Removal

1. Some models are equipped with a steering shock absorber installed between the rack and the steering gear housing.

2. Remove the mounting nut from the moving end of the shock absorber.

3. Remove the clamp assembly bolts from the steering gear housing and remove the shock absorber from the pipe. Be careful not to lose the rubber components and the washer from the end of the shock absorber.

Installation

4. When installing, first attach the clamp assembly to the steering gear housing, then tighten the fastening nut on the moving end of the shock absorber to achieve the value "A" as shown in the illustration.
