The cars have a monocoque body. The body is a universal welded structure and includes crumple zones in the front and rear with a safety cell in the center of the car.
The hood, trunk lid, doors and front fenders are bolted on and are easy to replace. When installing, gaps must be observed, otherwise, for example, the door will knock or increased noise from the wind will be observed when moving. The gap must be at least parallel along its length, i.e. the distance between the body parts must be maintained constant along the entire length of the gap.
Almost all bodywork components and parts can be installed and removed using a standard set of tools. During disassembly and assembly, special precautions must be taken to avoid causing serious damage to the seals and the anti-corrosion coating applied by the manufacturer.
In order to maintain a reliable connection to the ground and prevent damage due to corrosion, do not disconnect the wires from the body. Disconnect wires only from battery, engine or transmission terminals.
Before connecting wires or busbars to ground, clean all connection points down to bare metal. Make sure that the bolted connections to the ground are securely tightened.
To protect your vehicle and keep it in good condition, follow these steps:
To remove dirt and dust, wash the car body, wheel arches and underbody with a jet of water from top to bottom. Wash the car body using a sponge or a soft cloth such as chamois.
To remove hard deposits, use soap, but do not rub too hard, otherwise you may scratch the paintwork. Then rinse the surfaces thoroughly with clean water.
After washing, wipe off any water drops remaining on the car.
If the paintwork has become dull or oxidized, use a combination cleaner and polish to restore shine. If water does not form beads on the cleaned surface, polish the car body.
To prevent deterioration and corrosion of the car body
Wash your car immediately in the following cases:
- After a trip along the seashore:
- After driving on salted roads;
- If resin or tree sap gets on the surface of the car body;
- If there are traces of insects or bird droppings on the surface of the body;
- After driving in areas with high levels of soot, oily smoke, mine dust or chemical elements;
- If the car is heavily contaminated with dust and dirt;
- If liquids such as benzene or gasoline are spilled on the body;
- If the paint is cracked or scratched, repair the damaged area immediately.

To clean plastic parts, use only recommended cleaning products available from your dealer.
Warning:
- If you do not have sufficient experience or do not have a suitable place to perform any of the work described in this manual, then it is recommended that repairs be carried out at a car service center or in a specialized car workshop.
- Before working on the instrument panel, doors or any electrical components, disconnect the negative battery cable.
Precautionary measures
When removing or installing various elements, to prevent scratches, lay a cloth or other padding material on the car body
When removing or installing trim on handles, moldings, gauges, grilles, etc., be very careful not to damage them, and avoid getting oil on them.
When installing elements, use sealant where necessary.
When applying sealant, be careful that it does not protrude from under the installed elements.
When replacing any metal parts (for example, the outer body panel) make sure you take steps to prevent rust from forming.
Warnings! Warnings specific to vehicles equipped with the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).
- Improper maintenance or repair of any component of the SRS system(and also the SRS related component) may result in injury or death to service personnel (as a result of unauthorized deployment of the airbag), as well as the driver and front passenger (as a result of the SRS system not working properly after unqualified maintenance or repair).
- Maintenance or repair of any component of the SRS system(nn6o associated component) must only be performed by an authorized Opel dealer.
