Replacing transmission oil in manual transmission and transfer case (Opel Frontera A)

1. The tools needed for this job include stands to support the vehicle, a socket wrench to remove the drain plug, a drain pan, newspapers and a clean rag. You should also prepare the required amount of transmission oil (see section Types and volumes of lubricants and fluids used).

2. Transmission oil is drained while hot (i.e. immediately after a car trip); hot oil makes it easier to remove dirt. It is better to carry out work wearing rubber gloves.

3. Jack up the vehicle and support it securely on supports. Try to position the car as level as possible.

4. Place the necessary equipment under the vehicle, being careful not to touch hot exhaust system components.

6. Carefully remove the drain plug. Be careful not to burn yourself with hot oil.

7. Allow the oil to drain completely. Clean the drain plug thoroughly, then install it and tighten it securely.
