Examination
1. Wiper blade assemblies should be inspected regularly. If the inspection reveals the presence of hardening or cracks in the rubber of the brushes, replace the brushes. If nothing out of the ordinary is found upon inspection, wet the windshield, turn on the wipers, let them run for a while, and then turn them off. Uneven brush marks on the glass or streaks on clean glass indicate that the brushes should be replaced.
2. During the operation of the wiper mechanism, the mounting nuts may loosen, so they should be checked and, if necessary, tightened each time the brushes are checked (see chapter Onboard electrical equipment for more information on the operation of the wiper mechanism).
Replacing wiper blades
1. Pull the windshield wiper assembly off the glass.
2. Press the fixing tab inward and remove the brush assembly from the wiper arm.
3. If you only want to replace the brush rubber, detach the end of the brush from the brush frame, then pull the brush out of the frame.
4. Compare the new brush with the old one in terms of length, design, etc.
5. Install the new brush in place, then insert its end into the brush frame to secure it.
6. Install the brush assembly on the lever, then wet the glass and check the operation of the wiper.
