Checking the differential fluid level of the front and rear axles (Opel Frontera A)

1. There is a filler/fluid level plug on the differential housing that must be removed to check the oil level. If the vehicle is raised to allow access to this plug, make sure it is securely supported - do not crawl under a vehicle that is supported only by a jack!

Note: To properly check the oil level, the vehicle must be supported level.

2. Remove the differential fluid fill/level plug and ensure the fluid level is near the bottom of the plug hole. To unscrew it, use a hex key.

3. Using your little finger as a dipstick, check the fluid level - it should reach the bottom of the plug hole. If this is not the case, use a syringe to add the recommended oil until it begins to overflow the filler neck.

4. Replace the cap and tighten it securely.

5. If you notice that you need to top up too often, it may just be because there are leaks that need to be identified and fixed before serious problems arise.
