Ignition module — removal and installation (Opel Ascona C)

1. On models with a 1.3L engine, the ignition module is located in the distributor (more details see section 18).

2. On models with 1.6/1.8L engines, the ignition module is located on the coil support plate. To get to the module, you need to remove the coil (see section 20).

3. Once the coil has been removed from its bracket, you can remove the bolts that secure the ignition module to the support plate (see photo).

4. If you are installing a new module, it should come with silicone grease that is applied to the backing plate to improve heat dissipation (see photo).

5. Installation of the ignition module is carried out in reverse order. Check that the locating pins on the module fit into the holes on the support plate.
