1. Unscrew the plug closing the oil pressure regulator valve (immediately behind the crankshaft pulley) and pull out the spring and plunger.
2. Replace the spring if it is deformed or weakened (compare with a new spring if possible).
3. If the plunger is scratched, it should be replaced.
4. Clean the plunger hole and install the plunger and spring in place. On 1.3 engines, replace the sealing washer under the plug.
