Removal

Remove the rear wheel.
Remove the brake drum.
Remove the top spring with brake spring pliers.
Remove the retaining clamp.
Disconnect the adjusting lever with the spring.
Remove the adjustment module with the heat clamp, slightly spread the brake pads.
Turn the compression spring cups on both sides using the special tool KM 346 until the springs are released.
Remove the front brake shoe and disconnect the spring.
Disconnect the rear brake shoe from the parking brake cable and remove.
Installation

Clean the brake shield and coat all mating surfaces of the brake pads in the area of the arrows on both sides with anti-squeal lubricant.
Clean the brake drum.
Check the wheel brake cylinder for leaks, replace if necessary.

Check the retaining springs and fasteners for damage, replace if necessary.
Check the brake pads for cracks, oiling and wear, replace the brake pads if necessary.
Check the brake drums for cracks and the brake shoe surfaces for scratches - if necessary: resurface the brake drum or replace the brake drum.

Install the rear brake shoe into the parking brake cable.
Note: Before installing the brake shoes, make sure the parking brake cable is in the guide on the brake shield.
Install the retainer, compression spring and plate using the special tool KM 346.
Secure the retaining spring and install the front brake shoe on the guide.
Install the retainer, compression spring and front brake shoe plate.

Install the adjustment module.
Coat the threads with silicone grease.
Note: The ratchet must not be locked at the end of the adjustment module.
Install the adjustment module with the heat clamp - make sure it is installed correctly (arrow).
Make sure the spring washer is installed before installing the adjusting lever.
Note: Install a new spring washer when installing new brake pads.
Install the adjusting lever with the spring.
Install the retaining clip and upper spring with brake spring pliers.
Install the brake drum.
Install the rear wheel and tighten to 110 Nm.
Adjust the drum brake mechanism and parking brake system.
