Removal

To facilitate subsequent installation of electrical wiring and hoses, tie cords to their ends before removing them. The cord remains in the removed tailgate.

1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2. Remove the windshield washer hose.

3. On the model Corsa disconnect the rear window wiper, anti-theft alarm, central locking motor, and heated glass wiring connectors and pull out the wiring.

4. On the model Tigra disconnect the seat belts (1) on the left and right of the B-pillar, remove the seals (2) in the area of the side trim from the body, unscrew the screws securing the trim (3) on the left and right and remove it. Unscrew the two screws securing the electrical wiring guide cover.

5. Install a support under the tailgate.

6. Remove the gas-filled strut from the ball joint on the tailgate. To do this, use a screwdriver to remove the locking bracket (1) from the support.

7. On the model Corsa remove the locking bracket and the hinge shaft (2) of the tailgate. With the help of an assistant, remove the tailgate.

8. On the model Tigra the hinges are secured from the inside. Remove the seal in the hinge area from the rear edge of the roof. Press the roof trim down a little from the rear side and disconnect the rear door electrical wiring connector. Unscrew the hinge mounting bolts and remove the door with the help of an assistant.

Installation

1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Secure the tailgate and adjust its position. The gap in relation to the adjacent body elements should be 6 mm. The top edge of the door should be at the same height as the top edge of the roof or no more than below it 1 mm.

2. When installing a new tailgate, transfer the parts from the old door to it.

On the Corsa you will need to drill holes for the windscreen washer nozzle. On cars without the GSi rear spoiler, file down the welded studs to secure the spoiler beam at the top of the door. If you have a GSi spoiler, drill additional holes to secure the spoiler.

3. On the model Tigra make sure that the seat belt fastening elements are installed correctly. Tighten the fastening bolt with force 35 Nm.
