Removal

A special puller will be required.

1. Set the parking brake, jack up the front of the vehicle and place it on supports, and remove the corresponding front wheel.

2. 2 Loosen the lock nut of the tip on the steering rod and unscrew it a quarter of a turn, holding the tip by the flats with an open-end wrench - if necessary, clean the threads with a wire brush and lubricate them with "Liquid Wrench" compound. To ensure that the wheel toe angles are maintained during assembly, count the number of free thread turns on the rod.

3. If necessary, remove the cotter pin and loosen the nut (1) securing the ball joint to the steering knuckle arm.

The right and left tips differ from each other in design: the right one is marked with the letter R and has a right-hand thread, the left one is marked with the letter L and has a left-hand thread.

Installation

2. Insert the ball pin into the arm on the steering knuckle and tighten the fastening nut to the required force - if the pin turns, press it into the conical hole of the arm, if necessary, install a new cotter pin.

3. Holding the tip from turning with a wrench by the flats, tighten the lock nut, if possible with the required force, - use a torque wrench and a crow's foot type adapter.

4. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel bolts to the required torque.

5. At the earliest opportunity, take the vehicle to a specialized service station to check and adjust the front wheel alignment angles.
