Removing
A special puller is required.
1. Set the parking brake, jack up the front of the vehicle and support it on jack stands and remove the corresponding front wheel.
2. 2 Loosen the locknut of the tip on the tie rod and unscrew it a quarter of a turn, holding the tip by the flats with an open-end wrench - if necessary, pre-clean the thread with a wire brush and lubricate it with the composition «liquid key». To ensure that wheel toe angles are maintained during assembly, count the number of free threads on the linkage.
3. If necessary, remove the cotter pin and give the fastening nut (1) ball pin to the steering knuckle arm.
4. Using a puller (3) release the ball pin of the tip from the steering knuckle - try not to damage the anther.
5. Counting the turns and without moving the locknut, unscrew the steering tip from the rod.
The right and left tips differ from each other in design - the right one is marked with the letter R and has a right-hand thread, the left one is marked with the letter L and has a left-hand thread.
Installation
1. Screw the steering tip onto the rod by the number of turns counted during the dismantling process.
2. Fill the ball pin into the lever on the steering knuckle and tighten the fixing nut with the required force - if the finger turns, press it into the taper hole of the lever, install a new cotter pin if necessary.
3. Holding the tip from turning with a wrench by the flats, tighten the lock nut, if possible with the required force - use a torque wrench and adapter type «crow's foot».
4. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel bolts to the correct torque.
5. At the first opportunity, drive the car to a specialized workshop to check and adjust the angles of the front wheels.
