The procedure is performed at room temperature - do not bleed the system immediately after the trip.
1. Check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir, if necessary, correct the level by bringing it to the MAX mark (see chapter Current service).
If the need to adjust the level occurs regularly and often, you should try to identify the source of the leak.
TRW system
The liquid level probe is attached to the tank cover.
1. Start the engine, then turn the steering wheel slowly from lock to lock three times.
2. Stop the engine and check the fluid level in the reservoir. Make appropriate adjustments if necessary
3. Start the engine again and, turning the steering wheel from lock to lock, listen to the sounds made by the steering pump - if the operation of the pump is accompanied by a noise background, therefore, there are air plugs in the system and the pumping procedure must be repeated.
Delphi/Saginaw system
The liquid level probe is attached to the strainer.
1. Start the engine, then turn the steering wheel slowly from lock to lock twice.
2. Stop the engine and check the fluid level in the reservoir. Make appropriate adjustments if necessary.
3. Start the engine again and, turning the steering wheel from lock to lock, listen to the sounds made by the steering pump - if the operation of the pump is accompanied by a noise background, therefore, there are air plugs in the system and the pumping procedure must be repeated.
