Attention! Due to constant modification of ignition systems, it is possible that your car uses spark plugs with characteristics different from those in the table provided. To determine the required type of spark plugs, it is necessary to provide the relevant data entered in the vehicle documentation - consult with official representatives of Opel.
1. Detailed information about spark plugs and their replacement procedure is given in the relevant section.
2. Each spark plug has its own ignition coil, which is inserted into the ignition module assembly or installed directly into the spark plug (z20NET engine). Disassembly and repair of the module in the conditions of a regular repair shop is not performed - the module is replaced entirely. Ignition coils are not subject to repair.
Engines Z16XE/Z18XE/Z22SE/Z22YH
3. Remove the engine cover.
4. Disconnect the ignition module wiring (see accompanying illustration). Turn out 4 (on the Z22YH engine - five) module mounting bolts. To remove the ignition module on Z16XE/Z18XE engines, special handles are used that are screwed into the central threaded holes of the module. If they are not available, you can use a pair of long bolts of a suitable diameter with the appropriate thread pitch.
5.4 Removing the ignition module (2): 1. Electrical wiring plug; 3. Special handles KM-6009
Note: These handles are also used to prevent burns to your hands when removing the ignition module on a hot engine
5. When removing the ignition module, it is necessary to pull it straight up, try not to allow any distortions to occur, in order to avoid damaging the spark plug connectors.
6. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

7. Remove the 4 bolts and the ignition coil cover from the cylinder head cover. Disconnect the coil wiring connectors.

8. Remove 4 mounting screws (1 for each of the coils) and remove the ignition coils from the spark plugs.
9. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
Z32SE Engine
10. Direct removal/installation of ignition modules is carried out in the same way as for a 4-cylinder engine, but to gain access to the ignition modules, it is necessary to additionally perform the following operations.
11. Remove the top engine cover.
12. Remove the corrugated air duct, disconnect the EVAP valve and throttle control module wiring connector.
13. Relieve the pressure in the fuel system, disconnect the fuel line and close it with a suitable plug.
14. Disconnect the PCV hose from the throttle control module and the surge tank hose.
15. Disconnect the vacuum line from the brake booster.
16. Disconnect the electrical connectors of the intake manifold flap switching solenoid valve and the injectors.
17. Disconnect the engine crankcase ventilation hose and the cooling system hose from the intake manifold.
18. Remove the 6 intake manifold mounting bolts.
19. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
