Disengaging: Release the throttle and place the shift lever in neutral. If the car is pushed, then add a little gas, if the gear «wedged».
Starting off: turn off the engine, engage first gear and engage the starter. The Vectra will jerk forward and drive with the engine running. Those who do not want to change gears during the trip can drive in second gear in this way on level ground.
Upshifting: Move off in first gear by starting the car with the starter. Shift into 1st gear with the engine speed close to the upper idle limit (about 1000 rpm). Slightly release the gas, put the gear lever in neutral position. Take your foot off the accelerator and with a slight movement of your hand push the lever in the direction of 2nd gear. At the correct engine and transmission speeds, the lever will slide into the correct position. If you've waited too long, you'll have to step up the throttle a bit to get into gear without grinding your teeth. If it doesn't work, then stop and try to do it all over again. Switching to other gears is the same. This is most easily done at very low speeds: in 2nd gear at a maximum of 20 km/h, in 3rd at 25 km/h, in 4th at 35 km/h and in 5th at 45 km/h. km/h.
Shifting to a lower gear: in this case, increase the number of revolutions in order to put the next, lower gear. Take your foot off the accelerator pedal, put the lever in neutral, carefully add gas and at the same time push the lever in the direction of the new gear. At the correct RPM, the lever will automatically move into position with almost no pressure. Downshifting also works best at low engine speeds and low speeds.
Removing the clutch slave cylinder
Remove the lining under the dashboard at the driver's feet.
Unscrew and remove the air duct located under it.
Slightly bend the safety shield on the clutch pedal with a screwdriver and remove it from the pedal pin.
Release your finger from the fork and pedal.
In the engine compartment, remove the relay box from the ABS hydraulic unit.
Suck as much brake fluid out of the expansion tank as possible (you can use an old syringe for injections from a home first aid kit).
Loosen the hose clamp and remove the feed line from the working cylinder. Place a rag on the floor and collect the escaping brake fluid.
Use a small screwdriver to pry out the safety clip on the connecting pipe of the working cylinder. Remove the pipeline. Place a container under the brake fluid.
Place an old rag under the slave cylinder to collect the brake fluid.
Unscrew both fixing nuts and remove the working cylinder from the front wall.
Check the gasket on the working cylinder; replace if necessary.
When installing, tighten the slave cylinder by 20 Nm.
Mount the pressure pipe on the working cylinder. You should hear the safety clip engage.
Bleed the clutch hydraulics.
