Maintenance work
If the clutch disengages correctly, then in any case, its hydraulics are also in order.
- But if it turns off badly or the pedal fails without resistance, then air must have entered the hydraulic system. Bleeding alone will not help - you need to find the leak and repair it. Now you can pump the system.
- Other reasons for not disengaging the clutch can be found in the section «Help with malfunctions» at the end of the chapter.
- Anyone who wants to carry out a preventive check of the clutch hydraulics should look for traces of brake fluid on the slave cylinder (at the top of the clutch pedal) and on the central clutch release module (in the gearbox). To check, dismantle the clutch shield.
- Clutch cylinders with wet fluid spots are leaking and should be replaced.
Tip: Clutch hydraulics take their fluid from the brake fluid expansion tank, but if there is a leak in this area, the brake system is not at risk. The clutch hydraulic intake pipe is located relatively high in the reservoir, so there is always a sufficient supply of fluid for the brakes.
