Warning! When working on the fuel system, you must first remove the pressure in the system.
1.6L SOCH engines
1. Switch off the ignition.
2. Remove the cover from the relay box.
3. Remove the fuel pump relay (purple relay).
4. Run the engine at idle until the engine stops.
5. Remove the ground wire from the battery and install the relay in the relay box and close the relay box cover.
DOCH 1.6, 1.8 and 2L engines
On these engines, the fuel system pressure can be relieved by the method described above, or as follows.
1. Unscrew the plug from the pressure relief valve and place a suitable container under the valve.
2. On 1.6 liter engines, the valve is located at the end of the fuel line (indicated by an arrow).
3. On 1.8 and 2.0 liter engines, the valve is located on top of the fuel line (indicated by an arrow).
4. Use a screwdriver to press the valve spool, while fuel will come out of it, and relieve pressure in the fuel system.
5. Screw the plug onto the head of the pressure relief valve.
