Removing
1. In the engine compartment, remove the accelerator cable sheath fastening bracket and remove the accelerator cable from the throttle cam.
2. Release the accelerator cable along its entire length from under the mount. On models with automatic transmission, you must disconnect the electrical connector from the downshift mechanism, which is mounted on the accelerator cable.
3. Inside the vehicle, unscrew the clips and remove the lower trim panel on the driver's side to access the fuel control pedal.
4. Remove the mounting bracket and disconnect the accelerator cable from the top of the pedal, fuel control.
5. In the engine compartment, remove the ring sealing the accelerator cable from the partition, and remove the accelerator cable.
Installation
1. From the engine compartment, insert the accelerator cable into place and install the accelerator cable sealing ring on the bulkhead of the engine compartment.
2. Install the cable sheath into the pedal suspension retainer, and connect the accelerator cable to the fuel control pedal.
3. In the engine compartment, check that the accelerator cable sheath is correctly positioned in the sealing ring of the bulkhead, then place the cable along its entire length in the mounting brackets.
4. Connect the accelerator cable to the throttle cam and secure with a clip. Install the cable sheath into the bracket and adjust the position of the accelerator cable.
Adjustment
1. In the engine compartment, remove the accelerator cable sheath retaining clip.
2. Check that the throttle cam is in its original position and, by moving the cable sheath, select the slack in the accelerator cable.
3. With the cable installed, install the fastening clip on the outer grooves of the cable sheath in front of the rubber sealing ring and washer. Once the clamp and cable are in place, there should be only slight slack in the accelerator cable.
4. While the assistant gently presses the accelerator pedal, check that the throttle cam fully rotates and returns to its original position.
