Replacement



1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Set the selector to P mode.

3. Remove the floor tunnel lining (see "Parking brake actuator lever - replacement").

4. Using a slotted screwdriver, disconnect the cable end from the selector.

5. Remove the U-shaped retainer...

...and, squeezing two plastic clamps...

...we remove the cable from the selector frame.

6. Remove the battery platform (see "Powertrain Mounts - Replacement").

7. In the engine compartment, pry up with a slotted screwdriver...

...and remove the U-shaped retainer.

8. Using pliers, squeeze the plastic fasteners...

...and remove the cable from the holder on the automatic transmission.

9. Remove the cable by pulling it through the hole in the engine shield.

10. Install the parts in the reverse order. Before installing the battery platform, be sure to adjust the cable.

Adjustment



1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Set the selector to P mode.

3. Remove the battery platform (see "Powertrain Mounts - Replacement").

4. Using a slotted screwdriver, lift the retainer up.

5. Turn the gearshift lever clockwise until it stops and press the lock down.

6. Check the selector's operation for clarity. If necessary, repeat the adjustment.
