Execution sequence
1. Check the level of the working fluid in the gearbox (see «Checking the levels of technical fluids»). A low or high oil level can have a significant effect on transmission performance. When checking the level, pay attention to the condition of the working fluid. The liquid should have the color of a dark transparent or reddish varnish, without the inclusion of small particles, there should be no burning smell. Otherwise, there is a serious malfunction in the gearbox and it is necessary to contact a specialist workshop as soon as possible.
2. We make sure that the selector cable is in good condition and correctly adjusted, as well as that the selector itself is in good condition. The selector must be clearly fixed in all positions, while its positions must correspond to the included modes. In addition, all blocking of the selector from its accidental movement should work properly (see «Controls and control devices»). If a problem is found, it must be corrected (see «Automatic transmission mode selector cable - replacement and adjustment», «Automatic transmission mode selector - removal, repair and installation» And «Automatic transmission mode sensor - check and replacement»).
3. When driving, there should be no jerks, bumps and various extraneous sounds. All modes must work in full (see «Controls and control devices»).
4. On the inspection ditch or overpass, we inspect the gearbox from all sides, make sure there are no oil leaks:
1) at the junction of the gearbox with the internal joints of the drives; the presence of traces of oil leakage in these places indicates the need to replace the front wheel drive oil seals (see «Front wheel drive seals - replacement»);
2) at the bottom of the junction of the clutch housing and the engine block; the presence of traces of oil leakage indicates the need to replace the torque converter oil seal. To perform the work, it is advisable to contact a specialized service.
