Fuel level sensor — removal and installation (Opel Vectra B)

Removal

1. Relieve the pressure in the fuel system and remove the ground cable from the battery.

2. Move the rear seat cushion forward and lift the carpet over the fuel pump.

3. Using a thin screwdriver blade as a lever, remove the plastic cover to expose the fuel pump.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump and tape it to the body to prevent it from falling behind the fuel tank.

5. Press the tabs located on both sides of the fuel hose retainer and remove the fuel hoses.

6. Unscrew the ring securing the fuel pump cover. Lift it up and disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the cover. Loosen the clamps, remove the hoses and remove the fuel pump cover from the vehicle interior.



7. The fuel level sensor is attached to the side of the fuel pump housing. Release the mounting brackets and pull the sensor upwards.



8. Remove the sensor through the hole in the fuel tank, being careful not to damage the lever with the float.

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
