Fan Switch — Removal and Installation (Opel Vectra A)

Note: When installing the switch, use a new O-ring.

Removal

1. The fan switch is located in the lower right corner of the radiator (see illustration).



2. If there is any doubt about the switch, check the wiring to the fan motor by temporarily connecting the contacts of the switch wiring connector and turning on the ignition. If the cooling fan starts to operate, the switch is faulty and should be replaced. To remove the switch, proceed as follows.

3. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then disconnect the wiring connector at the switch (if not done yet).

4. Drain the cooling system as described in Chapter 2.

5. Unscrew the switch from the radiator and remove the O-ring.

Installation

6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Use a new O-ring. When finished, fill the cooling system as described in Chapter 4.

7. Finally, start the engine, let it warm up to normal operating temperature and check that the fan is working properly.
