To measure this dimension, place the Opel KM-476 control template between the end of the steering rod and the protrusion of the left mount of the steering mechanism.

Leave the steering wheel in this position.

Attention! Before carrying out adjustments the following conditions must be met:
- the steering shaft mounting bracket bolt must be horizontally at the top (see arrow in Fig.; shown with the steering gear removed);
- the steering wheel must sit correctly on the steering shaft: its left and right spokes must be at the same distance from the floor. If the deviation from symmetry is more than 5°, remove the steering wheel and install it symmetrically (rearrange to the corresponding number of splines).

Loosen the tightening bolts (2 pcs.) on the left and right steering rods.
Use the adjusting studs to adjust the wheel alignment.
Caution! Always turn both studs the same distance. The permissible difference is 5 mm.
Tighten the tie bolts to 20 Nm.
Conduct a wheel alignment check.
