To measure this size, attach the Opel KM-476 control template between the end of the steering rod and the lug of the left mounting of the steering mechanism.
Leave the steering wheel in this position.
Attention! The following conditions must be met before adjustment is made:
- the steering shaft mounting bracket bolt must be horizontally at the top (see arrow in fig.; shown with steering gear removed);
- the steering wheel must sit correctly on the steering shaft: its left and right spokes must be at the same distance from the floor. If more than 5°out of symmetry, remove steering wheel and install symmetrically (rearrange to the appropriate number of splines).
Loosen tightening bolts (2 pcs.) on the left and right tie rods.
Use the adjusting pins to adjust the wheel alignment.
Attention! Always turn both studs the same distance. The allowable difference is 5 mm.
Tighten tightening bolts to 20 Nm.
Carry out a wheel alignment check.
