Engine starting system



The F4R 720 engine is equipped with a Bosch 0001106023 starter.

Removal



1. Removing the starter requires removing the catalytic converter.

2. Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.

3. Disconnect the battery.

4. Remove the carpet under the left seat, battery cover 1, air resonator, engine sump (figure 2.86).

5. Place a support under the exhaust pipe.

6. Disconnect the starter power cable 2 (figure 2.89).

7. Unscrew the 3 starter mounting bolts (figure 2.90).

8. Unscrew the two bolts 4 securing the starter and remove it (figure 2.91).



Installation



9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Make sure that the centering sleeve 1 is present (figure 2.92).

10. Tighten the starter mounting bolts (38 Nm).

The power module is built into the control unit. The same sensors are used for ignition as for fuel injection. The system consists of four spark plugs, each of which is secured with a bolt to the cylinder head cover (figure 2.93).
